Cameras are Outside-In Tracking with the camera outside of the tracked object. Our approach is Inside-Out tracking with the camera or sensor on the tracked object. Because we sweep laser light through the room in an analog fashion (spinning of a motor), we have very precise angular location in the room. This translates to <1mm 6DOF pose accuracy with Swept Angle Laser Tracking (SALT) over a 5-meter+ tracked space. An outside-in system uses a camera with a x/y array of pixels. The farther away from the camera the greater the area covered by a pixel and subsequently lower accuracy. Also with an Inside-Out tracking system the tracking information is inside the tracked object and can support mobile tracking for Mobile VR/AR, robotics or Tracked IoT applications.
